The  Securites & Investment Institute is about to  become a Chartered body following an Order of Grant of a Royal Charter which was approved by The Queen in Council on Wednesday 8 July 2009.

This is a significant milestone in the history of the Institute, as we join the ranks of the more established professional bodies, such as the accountants, lawyers and bankers.

The SII will formally become the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment once Her Majesty has signed the Charter. This document is now being prepared and is expected to be completed this autumn.

Scott Dobbie FSI(Hon), SII Chairman, said: “It is very pleasing that the SII, which has built an enviable reputation for professionalism in the sector, has had its position as a pre-eminent professional body endorsed by the award of a Royal Charter. I would like to thank all of our members and corporate members for their commitment to high standards in qualifications, continuing professional development and the promotion of integrity and ethics: the foundation stones of our application to the Privy Council.”

Ruth Martin, SII Managing Director said: “The Institute supports the FSA in its drive for professionalism with its emphasis on higher qualifications, continuous learning and adherence to a code of conduct with teeth. These are precisely the underpinning qualities of the Institute, on which our successful application to become a Chartered body was based.”

Lee Werrell MSI, Owner of CEI Compliance Limited, has added “The level of professionalism, dedication and drive for continuous learning and qualification of the members, combined with all of the hard work done by the excellent management team of the SII has led to this recognition.”
